Construction work commenced on Monday 4th July 2011 on both developments which will provide first class training and playing facilities for hockey and tennis along with increased parking facilities at Mayfield. The combination of the 'kind' summer weather and hard work, has allowed the development to progress on time and the new car park is now complete and the All-Weather pitches are on target for an December finish.
The Mayfield development has changed the layout of the existing car park along with creating an addition 50+ parking spaces. Over the last 6 weeks the old astroturf layers have been removed; new foundations prepared; kerbs and pathways positioned and the mono-blocking laid. The finishing touches to the landscaping areas will be finished shortly.
The work to develop the new All-Weather pitches has seen a dramatic change to Dalnacraig, in particular the ‘slopey’ rugby pitches. Over the course of the first 2 weeks, virtually all the top soil from the site was removed. This was a major operation involving the removal of 400mm of topsoil across the site. The dividing wall has been removed, the former blaze tennis courts have been dug up and top soil has been laid in preparation for seeding / turfing. Work has progressed extremely well and the entire area is now level and ready for the next stage of the development.
It is to be hoped that the weather will stay in our favour and we can remain ahead of schedule.
